Jackson County Busted Mugshot Records
An arrest leaves paperwork behind, and no single office holds every piece. Whoever made the arrest writes up the incident itself. Booking takes place at the Jackson County Jail, which sits inside the Jackson County Law Enforcement Center, and the staff there keep the custody record. A booking photo may come out of that same step. If a case gets filed, the docket lives with Iowa Courts from that point forward.
There is no county mugshot gallery online. The county route runs through direct requests instead. Not every police contact produces a booking, either. A citation, summons, warning, field release, juvenile process, or medical diversion can all end without a jail record on file. The arresting agency may not even be the one holding the paperwork. Police in Maquoketa, Bellevue, or Preston can make the bust, while the Sheriff keeps the resulting county jail booking record.
Jackson County Booking Record Fields
The Sheriff's blank application lists two separate request categories: “Arrest Record” and “Photos.” No public sample proves that every field described here shows up in each file. A precise request can simply ask the custodian whether these items are held, without assuming each one will be released.
| Field to request | What it may identify |
|---|---|
| Legal name and aliases | Names supplied or recorded at intake |
| Arrest and booking time | When the arrest and jail processing occurred |
| Booking or jail identifier | The local reference for the custody event |
| Agency and charges | The agency and charges reported at booking |
| Case, warrant, bond, or hold | Numbers and custody terms in the file |
| Status or transfer | Release, custody, or movement elsewhere |
| Identification photo | A separate image, if held and releasable |
A court file is not a stand-in for this jail record. The counts a prosecutor files can differ from what was written down at intake. Treat the two as separate documents that track different moments in the same case.
Request Jackson County Busted Records
Want a named arrest record or photo? The county's own records process is the dependable route. The Sheriff's records instructions explain where to send the application. The official page reflects the county path. It is not a commercial lookup service.

That page also points to the request form and the records contact. It is the right fallback when no public roster carries the record you need.
- Give the full name, arrest or incident date and time, location if known, and JCSO case number if known.
- Select “Arrest Record” and “Photos” separately. Do not assume one includes the other.
- Choose pickup, mail, or email, sign the form, and send it to
kwells@jacksoncounty.iowa.govor the Sheriff's Office. - Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate. Ask the custodian to cite the basis for any withheld part.
- Use Iowa Courts Online afterward to check the filed case and disposition.

Jackson County Arrest Record Fees
The local form spells out the costs clearly. An arrest record runs $5 for up to five pages. Six pages or more costs $10. Photos carry their own price of $10. That fee applies only if you supply a CD, DVD, or flash drive. Email is listed as a delivery option too. It is worth asking whether electronic delivery changes the media requirement or the fee. Requests are handled as soon as possible. Assembly may take time, and the department has ten business days to comply.
| Requested item | Published amount |
|---|---|
| Arrest record, up to five sheets | $5 |
| Arrest record, six or more sheets | $10 |
| Photo with supplied media | $10 |
Do not apply the five-to-seven-business-day turnaround listed for accident reports to a photo request. A custodian still reviews whether a particular image or record may be released.
Iowa Busted Mugshot Access Law
Iowa Code chapter 22 sets the access rules for public records. Section 22.7(9) treats criminal-identification files as confidential. Even so, it declares current and prior arrest records and criminal-history data public. Section 22.7(5) protects peace-officer investigative reports. The date, time, specific location, and immediate facts of an incident generally stay open, subject to listed safety and investigative exceptions. So the law backs access to arrest facts. It does not force Jackson County to host an online gallery, and it does not guarantee that every booking photo must be released.
Sections 22.2 through 22.4 cover examination and copying, feasible electronic access, and requests made in person, in writing, by phone, or electronically. Fees must be reasonable and disclosed up front. When production takes less than 30 minutes, custodians are urged to make every reasonable effort to charge nothing.
Iowa has no commercial mugshot-publication or anti-pay-to-remove law in the 2026 Code. HF 2309 proposed booking-photo confidentiality in 2024. The bill never advanced past introduction. Chapter 22 and other confidentiality rules still control each request.
Removing Jackson County Busted Results
Begin at the source. A person who spots a wrong identity or factual error in a county record can send the Sheriff's custodian the record, the correction sought, and supporting proof. Court relief is a separate track. Iowa Code §901C.2 allows expungement when all charges in a case were dismissed or acquitted and the listed conditions are met, normally after a wait of at least 180 days. Good cause can support a waiver in situations like mistaken identity. A qualifying case then becomes confidential.
Section 901C.3 opens a narrower route for certain misdemeanor convictions. More than eight years must have passed. No charge can be pending, and financial obligations must be paid. The offense cannot fall within the statutory exclusions, and other conditions apply as well. Neither route automatically purges every copy held by publishers or search engines.
After an official correction or court order, send proof through the publisher's own free process. RecentlyBooked waives its charge for dismissal, expungement, sealing, wrong-person listings, juvenile data, duplicates, and bad or stale facts. Mugshots.com offers free record maintenance after a court expungement. The first has no current Jackson route. The second's Jackson page shows no entries. Skip paid-removal vendors. Once a source page changes, use the search engine's free outdated-content tool to request a refresh.
Jackson County Juvenile Arrest Records
Kids' records sit behind a thicker wall than adult booking files. Iowa Code §232.147 keeps juvenile records confidential in most situations. One narrow exception covers alleged conduct that would count as a forcible felony for an adult, and §232.150 lays out when sealing happens. So neither extreme holds up. You can't claim every juvenile case is open, and you can't claim each one is sealed away forever.
Access to a specific record belongs with a custodian or the court. A limited exception never licenses dropping a child into an adult mugshot search. And a private listing, or a grown man who happens to share the name, is never a fair stand-in.
Jackson County Busted Roster Search
Don't expect a public busted roster here. Jackson County posts no official jail roster. There's no named inmate search, no booking-photo display, and no feed of recent bookings. The official county jail page takes a different direction, covering visits, communication, mail, and facility rules. Knock on that door for jail questions. Just don't expect a search tool behind it.

What's missing? Names, booking numbers, charges, bond amounts, photos, timestamps, search fields, and any archive of people released. Nothing of the sort appears. So if a private search box markets itself as the Sheriff's roster, it isn't one, and calling it that just misleads people.

| Name or booking search | Not published |
| Charges and bond | Not published |
| Booking photographs | Not displayed |
| Update cadence | Not stated |
| Released archive | Not offered |
Think someone is in custody right now? Call. The Sheriff's line is 563-652-3312. Dispatch answers at 563-652-2468. Staff may hold back some details, but they can point you toward custody guidance. For anything older, like an arrest already made or a photo you want on record, file the written request instead. That request-first workflow is Jackson County's official path. It separates a stable answer from a phone conversation.
Recent Jackson County Busted Bookings
There is no official same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, weekly booking, or released-person feed. Nothing to consult. Maquoketa, Bellevue, and Preston publish no municipal booking bulletin naming individuals either. That leaves nothing solid behind claims about update cycles, weekend surges, photo rules, field lists, or archive windows. Anyone quoting such details for this county is inventing them.
Match the tool to the moment. A phone call answers an immediate custody question fastest. A written request produces a reproducible answer about a known arrest. Once prosecution begins, Iowa Courts Online carries the filed case, and IowaVINE can send status alerts along the way. These channels overlap in places, but none of them substitutes for another.
Find Jackson County Busted Mugshots
Pick the channel that matches where the person actually is in the process. And remember: a negative result in one system settles nothing about another.
- Just booked: call the Sheriff or county dispatch for present-custody guidance.
- Known county arrest: request the arrest record and photo separately.
- Released or charged: search Iowa Courts Online and read the latest disposition.
- State sentence or supervision: use Iowa Department of Corrections search.
- Status alerts: register with IowaVINE, not a historical photo search.
- Federal or immigration custody: use BOP, the federal docket and confirmed facility, or ICE ODLS as appropriate.
| Custody stage | Best source | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Possible county custody | Sheriff or dispatch | Guilt or final charge |
| Released from jail | Sheriff record and Iowa Courts | Acquittal merely from release |
| IDOC custody or supervision | IDOC offender search | Every Jackson County arrest |
| Federal sentence | BOP locator | County or federal pretrial custody |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | A criminal conviction |
Jackson County State Offender Photos
The IDOC offender search takes first, middle, and last name, an offender number, sex, location, offense, county of commitment, and a name-search mode. The blank search form appears below. No one's image is exposed on the page itself.

Filtering by Jackson as the county of commitment narrows things down. But read that field with care. It means the committing county, not home, current location, or the place of arrest. IDOC updates records weekly, and entries can shift fast. Open a result to check whether an image exists. Never assume every profile carries one.
The system covers only people held or supervised by state corrections. A fresh county detainee, someone released without a state sentence, or a federal prisoner may never appear at all. When an existing IDOC photo isn't displayed, the department's records process is the way to get it.
Jackson County Arrest Court Outcomes
A booking file captures one early moment. Then it stops. The court docket keeps going, and it can show filed counts, hearings, judgments, dismissals, acquittals, pleas, and other outcomes as a case moves. To follow through in Iowa Courts Online, pick Trial Court Records and search by name. It's the right next step whenever a story or an old booking result ends without an outcome.

A few search tips from official help: Last/Firm needs at least two letters, and the % wildcard is allowed. A Case ID pulls up details directly. Schedule and advanced searches sit behind a subscription, and certain links open only for subscribers or at a clerk's terminal. Sparse results don't mean no case exists. Jackson County falls within Iowa's Seventh Judicial District.

- Jail processing after a custodial admission.
- Bond

Jackson County Arrest Status Alerts
IowaVINE is the verified statewide alert channel. IDOC describes it as an anonymous service for people seeking status information about cases and individuals in Iowa jails or under IDOC custody or supervision. The official explanation appears below.

Sign up through VINElink or call 1-888-742-8463. VINE is not a county Sheriff app or a mugshot archive, and no official Jackson County Sheriff app exists.
Anonymous alerts are one thing; formal victim registration with IDOC or the Board of Parole is another. Statutory rights under chapter 915 begin through the prosecuting County Attorney. Take that route when official notices matter.
Jackson County Booking Address Changes
The Law Enforcement Center stands at 1700 E. Maple Street in Maquoketa. A 2021 county resolution described the complex. It spans roughly 18,700 square feet, with a planned 32-bed jail and space to add 18 more beds down the road. Sheriff's offices, emergency operations, the jail, and support functions all fit under one roof.
Some private directories still list the old South Niagara jail address. That mismatch alone justifies starting with the current county site. An outdated address often flags stale custody and roster claims too, no matter how polished the page looks.
Jackson County Mugshot Source Check
Start with official offices before anywhere else. Most big private mugshot brands simply don't cover Jackson County today. Busted Newspaper's Iowa index leaves the county out. RecentlyBooked's Jackson route has disappeared. Arrests.org omits Jackson from its supported Iowa display, Mugshots.zone has no stable county page, and Mugshots.com's county shell showed no entries when checked.
| Channel | Photo status | Authority and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Sheriff request | Request separately | Official; release reviewed |
| County jail page | No photos | Official, not a roster |
| IDOC search | Check results | State corrections only |
| Local news | Varies | Not complete custody data |
| Private sites | No current feed verified | Unofficial and possibly stale |
Local news picks up some of the slack. The Sentinel-Press runs a weekly incidents digest. The Bellevue Herald-Leader covers eastern-county crime and court news. KMAQ and KROS post event-driven reports. One caution: a scene photo or surveillance still is not a booking photograph unless labeled as one. Whatever a private site shows, weigh it against the Sheriff and the court docket before trusting it.
Older Jackson County Arrest Archives
Jackson County keeps no online roster archive, and it publishes no firm number of years that booking photos must be held. Getting out of custody does not wipe the arrest record itself. Court files can live on long after a stay in jail ends. Expunged or sealed matters follow a different set of rules entirely. So a smart records request asks pointed questions. Which retention series covers jail booking records and identification photos? What event starts the clock? Do the files transfer to another office along the way?
Older material is a different hunt. The State Historical Society of Iowa runs the State Archives and keeps a Jackson County records inventory. Its Board of Control group, RG 097, holds institutional registers and reports rather than anything like a modern photo gallery. Archive staff can tell you what survived, what you may view, and which office holds it now.
Busted Mugshots Across Jackson County
City police often write the incident report, while the county jail handles the custodial booking after an arrest. Every town has its own agency route. When a city cannot help, the county remains the fallback for busted mugshots anywhere in Jackson County.
- Maquoketa Busted Mugshots: city police handle city calls, and custodial arrests go to Jackson County Jail.
- Bellevue Police provides city coverage, while the Sheriff holds a resulting jail booking.
- Preston Police also serves Miles and Spragueville; annual reports show calls, not a named arrest feed.
Not every police stop leads to a mugshot. A citation or a field release may never involve the jail at all. For a full picture, pull the city-held report from city police, the booking record from the Sheriff, and the case outcome from Iowa Courts.
